OOLITIC – Two men were arrested after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of two men fighting in the 1000 block of Walnut Street in Oolitic, on Friday, April 28.
When police arrived just after 9 p.m. they spoke to 24-year-old Dillon Robertson, of Oolitic, who stated he had been in an aggressive fight with 44-year-old Jeremy Hutchens, also of Oolitic.
Robertson told police that Hutchens had shown up at the residence. He was sitting on the porch when Hutchens walked up to him. At the same time, Robertson said he stepped off the porch armed with a baseball bat and told Hutchens to get off his property.
Robertson stated Hutchens then punched him in the head. Robertson told police he didn’t swing the bat but did throw some punches and landed a few.
Hutchens then left with his girlfriend, who attempted to break up the fight.
Police found Hutchens at a residence at 1304 15th Street in Bedford.
Hutchens told police he went to the home in Oolitic to speak to his sister. When he arrived a male on the porch who was armed with a baseball bat approached him and was swinging the bat. He told police he was struck five to six times with the bat. Police said Hutchens did have bruising and redness on the right and left side of his head from the attack.
Hutchens was arrested on a charge of battery.
Police returned to Oolitic and arrested Robertson on a charge of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury.
