SALEM – On Friday, May 5 Governor Eric Holcomb will speak at Next Level Trails Monon South Celebration.
Also attending will be Indiana Department of Natural Resources Director Dan Bortner.
Gov. Holcomb to deliver remarks to celebrate the Monon South Trail expansion that will make it the state’s longest recreational trail. The Monon South Trail will follow the route of the historic Monon Railroad beginning in New Albany and running through five Indiana counties.
Gov. Eric Holcomb announced this year he would award Indiana DNR $29.5 million to acquire and begin development of the 62.3-mile Monon South Trail.
The Monon South Trail will follow the route of the historic Monon Railroad beginning in New Albany and running through the communities of Borden, New Pekin, Salem, Campbellsburg, Saltillo, Orleans, and Mitchell. That route includes portions of Floyd, Clark, Washington, Orange, and Lawrence counties.
The event will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 5th at The Depot Rail Museum at 206 South College Avenue in Salem.
