BEDFORD – A Tennesee man was arrested on Friday, May 5th after Bedford Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute at the Quality Inn on Constitution Avenue.
Before police arrived, dispatch alerted them that the woman involved in the fight was bleeding from her head and IU Health was en route to the motel.
When police arrived they made contact with the injured female and a male 46-year-old Christopher Rose, who was carrying a 2-year-old female.
The officers reported the injured female had a large amount of blood running down the side of her head and it has saturated her hair.
The female told police she “fell”. Both were then asked if they had been in a domestic dispute. Both said no. Both were escorted outside and separated to wait for the ambulance. Officers spoke to the female again and she began crying saying she couldn’t talk about what happened.
Officers attempted to detain Christopher Rose, who actively resisted and pulled away from officers. He was taken to the ground and handcuffed. He then refused to get into the police car and had to be forced inside.
The injured female finally told police that she had told Christopher she was going to leave him. She said he had been drinking and when he drinks he gets “crazy”. She told police that Christopher took a suitcase and struck her twice in the head and she fell to the floor. He told the woman he would kill her if she told anyone what really happened and she believed he would follow through with that threat. The toddler witnessed the fight.
The female requested permission to retrieve her belongings from her and Christopher’s vehicle. When officers had Christopher step out of the police car to retrieve the vehicle keys, he again refused to get back inside and continued to scream profanities.
The female was transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment. Christopher was transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement by force, aggravated battery, disorderly conduct, domestic battery in the presence of a minor, battery with a deadly weapon, and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
Police received a search warrant and found the suitcase on the floor with strands of the woman’s hair in the wheel. There was also blood splatter on the floor and carpet and on the sheets of the bed.
