BEDFORD – The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County has partnered with United Way to host the 10th annual Ugly Duck Derby, as well as a free community swim at Bedford’s John Lowery Municipal Pool on Saturday, June 10.
The kick-off event, where special-priced tickets can be purchased will be next Thursday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at the Downtown Depot in Bedford. With the purchase of 40 tickets for $100 at the kick-off or beforehand you will be entered to win a week stay in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in Siesta Key, Florida.
This deal is a steep discount from the price of the ducks after the kick-off.

- 26 Ducks – $100
If you miss the discounted rated tickets you can still purchase tickets by contacting Ashley Gilstrap at agilstrap@bgcblc.org or calling 812-583-8908, asking a Boys & Girls Club Board Member, or stopping by the Limestone Unit. Ticket prices after May 11th will be $5 for one ticket, 5 tickets for $20, 13 tickets for $50, or 26 tickets for $100.
There will be $6,500, as well as other prizes up for grabs during next month’s event.
From 12-6 p.m. on the day of the derby, the pool will be open to all for a free community swim, with the races taking place from 6-8 p.m.
The winner of the yellow duck race will win a $4,000 grand prize. The winner of the blue duck race will take home $2,500.
There will also be other activities happening at the pool throughout the day such as visits from firefighters & police officers, relay races, and other games. Additionally, Jiffy Treat will be at the event all day with treats available.
