BLOOMINGTON – On Tuesday, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a call of an armed robbery at Walmart in Bloomington.
When police arrived at 3:20 p.m., the 25-year-old female victim told police she was inside the store shopping when she was approached by a female who asked for money. The woman then displayed a knife. The armed woman escorted the victim to the ATM at the front of the store and forced her to withdraw money. No one was injured during the incident.
Deputies reviewed surveillance footage from the store and were able to obtain images of the suspect. A short time later, deputies located the female suspect in the parking lot area near the fuel center, and she was detained. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Tarea Hutchins of Bloomington.
Hutchins was arrested on charges of armed robbery, and kidnapping while armed with a deadly weapon.
