Cecil Page Melton, 88, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Paoli Health & Living Community.
Born Feb. 9, 1935, in Cumberland County, Kentucky, he was the son of Brance Melton and Ethel Florence “Essie” (Thacker) Melton Hackney. He married Nancy Manuel on July 13, 1990, and she preceded him in death Aug. 19, 2019.
Cecil was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked at the Feed Mill in Mitchell for 69 ½ years; starting there when he was 12 years old. He enjoyed working and fishing.
Surviving are his children, Tim (Cindy) Melton of Hardinsburg, Cindy (Rod) Curren of Mitchell, Tammy (Keith) Bowling of Orleans, Roxanna Knowles of Mitchell, and Crystal (Dan) Jifkins of Paoli; stepchildren, Nellie (Rob) Stevens of Mitchell and Angel Wheeler of Mitchell; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
His parents; wife; daughters, Donna Richie and Cathy McFarland; granddaughter, Jennifer Bowden; stepsons, Andy Riley and James Manuel; and siblings, Paul Melton and Phil Melton, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, in Mitchell Cemetery with Beth True officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Burial will follow.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
