OWEN CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor GeoStabilization International has closed State Road 46 for an emergency slide repair project in Owen County. The project site is located east of Vandalia and west of Spencer, between Carmichael Lane and Chapman Road.
State Road 46 is anticipated to stay closed for at least three weeks, while the contractor completes work to stabilize the roadway, shoulder, and hillside with soil nails and shotcrete. The official detour route for the closure will follow S.R. 59 to I-70 to U.S. 231.
INDOT reminds drivers to use extra caution, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
