BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant after he allegedly distributed intimate images of a woman.
Police arrested 32-year-old Michael Spires Jr. on two counts of distribution of intimate images when a woman reported on April 19, 2023, that he allegedly texted her on Monday, April 10th in violation of a protective order asking if they could work on their relationship.
The woman informed Spires she didn’t want to be in a relationship with him. Spires then texted and said he would not speak to her anymore.
Spires messaged the woman again threatening to expose sexual pictures of her on Facebook on Thursday, April 13, 2023. He allegedly screen-recorded the pictures off his phone and sent them to the woman. Police say Spires made a fake Facebook page in the woman’s name and began posting the sexual photos. The woman reported the incident to Facebook. Once the account was removed, Spires made a second fraudulent account under the woman’s name and posted pictures of her.
Police were able to recover the explicit pictures as evidence.
Officers attempted to make contact with Spires but were unsuccessful.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Spires’s arrest.
