BEDFORD – Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day is working to update security measures at Courthouse Plaza.
Tuesday morning he requested permission to update all of the security cameras at Courthouse Plaza. ITS will do the work at a cost of $12,625 which the sheriff has in his budget.
He also will use $11,920 from his budget to have T&G change the entrances at Courthouse Plaza and construct a security office.
“Basically the entrance will become the exit and the exit the entrance,” he added. “We also received permission from Chief Public Defense Attorney Tim Sledd to construct a security office by using part of the Public Defenders office and will be moving the security center behind the entrance of the voter registration office.”
Sheriff Day reported there were 119 inmates in jail this morning, of those 95 are males, 24 females, 13 Department of Correction holds, one parole holds, and 14 Level 6 felons.
