Mitchell man beats and pulls a knife on woman during a domestic fight

MITCHELL – A man was arrested after Mitchell Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic battery at 6:53 p.m. Sunday at 112 Dale Street.

Brandon Jamison

Police detained 35-year-old Brandon Jamison, of Mitchell, on charges of domestic battery, strangulation, and intimidation with a deadly weapon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, when police arrived they spoke with a female who was “very upset” and had visible red marks on her neck.

The woman told police her boyfriend Brandon Jamison and she had argued. During the argument, Jamison got angry, pushed her down, and began to bang her head on the floor.

Police say the woman had bruising on her right arm and redness to the back of her head.

The woman reported Jamison then placed his knee on her neck and his hand over her mouth where she couldn’t scream for help. He then pulled out a knife and told her he was going to “gut her like a fish”.

She told police she fought back and was able to get the knife out of his hand and bit his finger in order to breathe. He then got up and grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the floor. She was able to get away and ran out the door and into the yard.

Neighbors told police they saw the woman staggering out of the apartment, falling, and crying for help.

The woman agreed to sign a battery affidavit.

Officers detained Jamison when he answered their door knocks at the apartment. Police found a pocket knife in his pocket.

Once placed in the police car, Jamison began to “scream and holler” saying “I didn’t do anything”.
