WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind.— Indiana Department of Transportation Contractor Beaty Construction Inc. announces that restrictions will resume on State Road 60 near New Pekin on or after Monday, June 5 in Washington County. State Road 60 will be reduced to one lane to allow crews to replace the bridge over South Fork Blue River, located approximately half a mile west of S.R. 335.
Eastbound and westbound traffic will alternate through the work zone via temporary traffic signals. Work is scheduled to be complete by late November, weather permitting. Construction began in 2022, but supply chain challenges delayed the project.
During the closure, East Main Street over South Fork Blue River will also close to traffic. Main Street will reopen at the same time as the S.R. 60 bridge.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
