BEDFORD – A Bedford man and woman were arrested on drug charges Thursday, May 25 after Bedford Police officers responded to the apartments on Ted Jones Drive at 8:29 p.m.
Officers went to apartment H at 3108 Ted Jones Drive to serve an arrest warrant on 35-year-old Justin Kenney.
When police knocked on the door they then heard shuffling sounds inside the apartment, announced they were police officers, and for Kenney to come to the door.
Several seconds went by when officers noticed several people inside the apartment scrambling around. When the door opened police found three adults and one juvenile inside including Kenney.
Police say Kenney was visibly shaken and distressed. He was detained on a warrant.
Offices believed there was another person in the apartment. Kenney’s girlfriend, 36-year-old Lindsay Turpin, gave officers consent to search for the other person. During this search, officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana inside the apartment.
In Kenney’s pocket officer found a black cylindrical container of crystal meth. He then admitted there was marijuana in the bedroom.
Officers located a blue wallet that contained Turpin’s driver’s license, a Department of Corrections identification card, two plastic baggies that contained fentanyl, and a blue cylindrical container of crystal meth. A red and blue plastic container with a plastic baggy of meth and a syringe, a blue plastic straw used to ingest meth, a glass smoking device, and a purple container with marijuana was also found.
Police located a silver Phoenix Arms HP 22A 22-caliber handgun with a round in the chamber and a camouflage pouch that contained a glass smoking device that was hidden inside the washing machine.
In the front room, police found a nylon container with two glass smoking devices that tested positive for meth, a plastic baggy that contained meth, and a plastic baggy that contained fentanyl.
Kenney told police he had found the gun in another apartment and placed the gun in the washing machine when he saw police at his door.
Kenney and Turpin were arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
