MITCHELL – Mitchell High School’s Simon Gaines, AJ Sarver and Ben Seitzinger each received the honor of being named to the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference all-conference team.
Gaines, the team’s junior shortstop, leads the Bluejackets with 43 hits this season, as well as team-highs of 52 runs scored and five home runs, with a batting average of .417.
Gaines has also spent 43.1 innings at the mound, the second most on the team this season, with a 7-2 record and a 2.1 ERA on the year, along with 47 strikeouts.
From the infield, Gaines leads the team with 71 assists, with a fielding percentage of .914.
Sarver, also a junior and the team’s center-fielder, has connected for 31 hits this season, batting in 21 runs and scoring 35 himself with a batting average of .330.
In addition to a solid year at the plate, he has also been lights outs defensively, recording a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000 on the season with no errors across thirty chances.
Seitzinger, a junior first-baseman and pitcher, leads the team with a .451 batting average on the season. He has racked up 41 hits and two home runs to go along with team highs in RBIs (43), on-base percentage (.550) and slugging percentage (.769).
At the mound, he has been Mitchell go-to option, throwing 59.2 innings, with a perfect 8-0 record in 11 starts, striking out 77 batters on the year with a 2.698 ERA.
From the infield, Seitzinger has recorded just three errors this season across 120 total chances for a fielding percentage of .975.
