BLOOMINGTON – This weekend, you’ll have the chance to give back to those in need while picking up your own groceries.
It’s the annual “Pack the Cruiser” food drive.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Qualters and Deputy Ham will be at Kroger West on Liberty Drive on Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The Pack the Cruiser event will benefit the Hoosier Hills Food Bank. Over 40,000 people, including almost 10,000 children, are food insecure in HHFB’s service area. Their Mobile Pantries served 5,042 households containing 13,126 individuals in 2017. This is an average of 420 households or 1,094 individuals every month. Please consider donating today to make a significant difference in the lives of local people in need.
Items that food banks say they need the most — especially during the summer when kids are out of school — include canned goods, peanut butter, jelly, breakfast cereal, granola bars, and applesauce.
Be sure to stop and help those deputies fill up their cruisers to help those in need.
