BEDFORD – A Mitchell woman was arrested early this morning after Bedford Police officers were called to the Super 8 Motel to check on a female who was being loud and acting erratic.
When police arrived they found the female had left in a gray Chevrolet Colorado.
A short time later an officer spotted the vehicle traveling south on Becky Skillman Way. The officer passed the vehicle and noticed the woman driving was moving erratically and flailing her arms.
The officer turned around and got behind the vehicle which had turned west on 16th Street before turning into the Lowe’s parking lot. The vehicle then traveled through the parking lot and turned south onto Plaza Drive. As the vehicle turned onto Plaza Drive, the vehicle turned wide, crossing over the center line. The officer initiated a traffic stop.
The driver stopped in a parking lot at Plaza Drive and Michael Avenue.
The driver was 43-year-old Kesha Blevins, of Mitchell. As the officer approached the vehicle Blevins was “cussing and raising her voice in an argumentative manner”. Blevins told the officer she was arguing with her husband who was on the phone.
The officer said Blevins showed signs of impairment and smelled of alcohol.
After failing several field sobriety tests. She was asked to take a blood test. She told the officer there would be marijuana in her system. She was then transported to IU Health Hospital for a blood draw and those results are pending.
Blevins was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI endangerment.
Her vehicle was inventoried and towed by Jackson’s Heavy Haul.
