PETERSVILLE — Police say 20-year-old Katelyn Tullis, from Madison, Indiana, was killed in a two-car collision in Bartholomew County Wednesday morning.
Around 8:45 a.m. Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash near County Road 525 East and County Road 100 South. That intersection is just outside of Petersville, near Columbus.
Tullis was pronounced dead at the scene from traumatic neck and chest injuries. She was a front-seat passenger in a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by 19-year-old Ayden Pittman, of North Vernon. Pittman was traveling north on County Road 525 East and was struck by a 2020 Hyundai Palisade traveling west on County Road 100 South. Police say Pittman failed to yield the right-of-way and hit the SUV.
Pittman suffered major injuries to his back and abdominal region and was flown to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Tullis was pronounced dead on the scene.
The two people in the SUV, Heather Baker, 52, and Sydney Dietrich, no age was listed, both from Columbus, were injured and taken to Columbus Regional Hospital.
The road was closed for several hours while police worked at the scene.
This is an active investigation, information will be added as it becomes available.
