BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Tuesday, June 6 after Bedford Police officers were requested to Revere’s Food & Fuel on 16th Street after a report of a male passed out in the bathroom.
The caller was unsure if the male was breathing.
The caller then phoned back and said she went into the bathroom and woke the male up and he was walking toward a black Ford Focus parked at the gas pumps.
When police arrived they located the vehicle in the parking lot. Police found 32-year-old Michael Simmons in the passenger seat and a female driving the vehicle.
Police asked Simmons to step out of the vehicle. Police say he had slurred speech, glassy eyes and he was holding his stomach. An IU LifeLine ambulance crew evaluated Simmons at the scene.
After not hearing from him she came back to Reveres and asked the employee if she could go in the
bathroom to check on him and they told her that he was using the bathroom. She went back outside
and waited 5-10 minutes and then decided to go back in. When she went back in, an employee told
her that “he’s dead over the toilet”. She went into the bathroom and woke him up. He walked out of the store and attempted to get onto his moped but the female stopped him and told him to wait in her car.
Simmons was medically cleared and he gave police consent to search his belongings. Police found a baggy with heroin and fentanyl. Simmons told police the wallet was not his.
Police found nothing illegal in the woman’s vehicle and she was released from the scene.
Simmons was arrested on two counts of possession of a narcotic drug and public intoxication.
