BEDFORD – On Monday, June 5, Judge John Plummer III sentenced Grant Michael Walcott to one year and 282 days in the Indiana Department of Corrections after he violated the terms of his probation.
Walcott was initially placed on probation on June 23, 2021. While on probation Walcott had multiple violations. On January 10, 2022, the Lawrence County Probation Department filed a complaint against Walcott for testing positive for the usage of heroin and fentanyl and for failing to report to the Probation
Department as directed.
Prosecutor Samuel C. Arp II argued that Walcott needed to finish his sentence at the Indiana Department of Corrections and asked Judge Plummer to place Walcott into the Recovery While Incarcerated Program so that he could seek help for his heroin addiction.
Judge John Plummer agreed and sentenced Walcott to the Indiana Department of Corrections for the remainder of his probation term with the recommendation of participating in the Recovery While Incarcerated Program.
