MITCHELL – A Mitchell Police officer was injured after responding to a call of a domestic dispute in Walker Addition.
Police were alerted to the dispute at 11:39 p.m. in the 900 block of Walker Addition.
Shortly after he arrived he requested assistance after being placed in a chokehold and reported “officer down”.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies, Bedford Police officers, Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies, and Orleans Police Department officers quickly responded to the scene to assist along with Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department first responders and an IU LifeLine ambulance.
Police arrested 33-year-old Anthony Christian, of Mitchell, on initial charges of battery against a police officer and strangulation.
