Man found passed out in a vehicle parked at a gas station and is arrested on drug charges

MITCHELL – A Bedford man was arrested Thursday afternoon when a Mitchell Police officer responded to assist first responders and an ambulance. They were requested to the Sinclair gas station on State Road 37.

When the officer arrived he found a first responder treating a man who was sitting in a blue 2011 Ford Fusion.

First responders reported there was marijuana in the vehicle and the male was unresponsive when they arrived. They had feared the male had overdosed. He woke after first responders knocked on the window.

According to police 36-year-old Aaron Pemberton told the officer he was tired, pulled over, and fell asleep. Agitated Pemberton did admit he had smoked marijuana.

While speaking to Pemberton the officer noticed a small black magnetic box that is typically used to hide drugs. The officer grabbed the box and found 5 grams of crystal meth inside instead.

The officer asked Pemberton to step out of the vehicle and he was detained. Pemberton began wailing and shouting “like a child throwing a tantrum” he then “threw himself on the ground”.

Police also found a used prescription bottle with marijuana in it and a glass smoking device in the center console along with a marijuana grinder on the passenger floorboard.

Pemberton was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
