BEDFORD – The Bedford Altrusa met on June 12th at The Mixing Bowl with 18 members present.
Guests were Greg Stanley, with the Knights of Columbus, and Tonya Vandivier, with Stone Belt. Both spoke about the services their organization provides to Lawrence County residents with disabilities.
Stanley is the Chairman of the K.O.C. Tootsie Roll Drive. He listed many ways the fundraiser benefits the community.
Vandivier invited club members to visit the LARC center to see how Stone Belt operates to help people find employment that fits their needs and abilities.
The May secretary’s report was read by Mary Barnes, as well as the minutes from the May 17th Board of Directors meeting. The 2023-24 budget was approved.
Life Pantry is in need of food that is suitable for children to prepare since they are home for summer break.
The group donated 20 magazines to each of the six local nursing homes.
The nut fundraiser normally held in the fall is to be determined subject to the availability of the product.
Sammie Kay Polley reported positive feedback from the recent cookbook donations. Members agreed the remaining cookbooks be given to Stone Belt for LARC.
The next meeting will be on July 10 at 5:30 at the Mixing Bowl.
