BEDFORD – A Mitchell woman was arrested on drug charges after Bedford Police officers responded at 5:33 a.m. on April 5, 2023, to an alley behind 1008 13th Street.
Police found 23-year-old Jamelia Grimes, of Mitchell, screaming in an SUV parked in the alley with the headlights on.
Officers spoke to Grimes, who police say was having a “manic episode” so an ambulance was requested to the scene.
Grimes exited the vehicle while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Grimes was having issued finding and putting on her shoes and moving a white box around in the floorboard. She then gave officers permission to search her vehicle.
During that search, police found a baggie of two grams of crystal meth and a glass smoking device that had recently been used inside that white box.
EMTs reported Grimes was suffering from an irregular heart rate and was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Her vehicle was towed by Mikels Wrecker Service.
A warrant was issued for Grimes’ arrest on charges of possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
