BLOOMINGTON – The best part of visiting your local market is meeting the people that spend their days growing and distributing fresh produce.
Not only can you learn about the origin of the food, but you can get to know the people who are farming and distributing it, and learn about their trade.
Many farmers, bakers, and harvesters support their businesses solely by selling directly to local consumers.
Music at the Market
Salem Willard, better known by his stage name, “Will Holler”, will play a set of live music at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday at the BCFM.
He is also the co-founder of Bread & Roses Nursery, a local organic plant nursery that specializes in edible plants. Beginning in 2012, Bread & Roses began selling their produce at the farmers’ market.
Willard said his stage name came from his agricultural roots. Aside from the phrase’s double meaning, Willard said the name is an homage to his family and to the work he does outside of music.
