ORLEANS – The Orleans Street Department is once again reminding local residents of the importance of NOT blowing grass clippings out into the town streets, or roadways as prohibited by local ordinance.
This practice only tends to clog the already overtaxed and limited storm drains, further adding to the town’s flooding problem during periods of heavy rainfall.
Town crews regularly check storm sewer grates, but property and business owners are also encouraged to assist in this endeavor by helping to keep grates clear of trash items, sticks, and limbs in order to allow stormwater to run off properly.
