MONROE CO. – An investigation into the theft of items stolen from area cemeteries has led to the arrest of a Gosport man.
Over the past several months, the Indiana State Police Post Bloomington had received several complaints about memorial-related items stolen from cemeteries in Monroe County. On June 7, 2023, the Bloomington Post received another complaint that items had been stolen from a gravesite in the Salt Creek Township Cemetery, located in southeastern Monroe County.
Troopers utilizing a variety of investigative techniques identified the suspect as Glen Cochran, 55, of Gosport. On Thursday, June 15, 2023, Troopers located Cochran in the 9000 block of Wolf Mountain Road and observed memorial-related items in the yard including the item reported stolen on June 7th. Cochran was arrested and incarcerated at the Monroe County Jail for the following offenses:
- Theft, Class A Misdemeanor
- Cemetery Mischief, Class A Misdemeanor
