BLOOMINGTON – On Friday, June 16, at approximately 10 p.m., officers with the Bloomington Police Department responded to the 2600 block of S Madison Street in reference to multiple callers reporting several shots fired in the area.
While officers were en route, the Central Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot and was in the driveway of a residence in the 100 block of East Willow Court.
When officers arrived on Willow Court, a 34-year-old man was found lying in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police learned the man had been shot in the 2600 block of South Madison Street and had driven himself back to the residence on Willow Court. Officers immediately began administering emergency medical care to the victim, who was then transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The victim did undergo emergency surgery and hospital staff advised investigators that they considered him to be
in stable condition.
Officers located a total of eight spent 9mm shell casings near the intersection of South Madison and West Watson streets.
Several witnesses were interviewed and provided information to investigators. It was determined that the victim had arrived in a vehicle at the 2600 block of South Madison Street, where an argument ensued between the victim and the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Quentin R. Farmer Sr., of Bloomington.
It was reported that as the victim stood near his vehicle arguing with Farmer, Farmer produced a handgun from his waistband and began shooting at the victim. This resulted in the victim initially falling backward. The victim then reportedly stood up and got into his vehicle and was screaming that he had been shot. At that point, the victim drove away from the area and went to the residence in the 100 block of West Willow Court, where he was later found by officers lying in the driveway.
Farmer had fled from the residence and was not located by officers. An arrest warrant was issued for Farmer that night. At approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, a sergeant was patrolling in the area of South Madison Street and observed Farmer in a driveway speaking with others. The officer immediately took Farmer into custody without incident.
Farmer was transported to the Bloomington Police Department for an interview. Once the interview was complete, Farmer, Sr. was transported to the Monroe County Jail and remanded on felony charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and criminal recklessness.
