LAWRENCE CO. – County fairs and festivals connect family, friends, and community. Nothing excites an empty stomach like the smell of fair and festival food.
Southern Indiana Classic Hits WQRK 105.5, LiteFM 102.5, and WBIW 1340 have composed a list of area family fun fairs and festivals. Just click here to plan your family outing.
Just knowing a fair or festival date is approaching will cause our mouths to salivate over all the foods we will enjoy. Roasted corn, caramel apples, tiger ears, and funnel cakes along with colorful snow cones some favorite treats.
Fairs are a fantastic place to learn about local agriculture. Walk through display barns to view sample grains, hay, vegetables, fruit, eggs, and horticultural items grown in the county. 4-H clubs create stunning educational visuals of projects ranging from leadership to natural resources.
Show cattle, sheep, goats, horses, poultry, and rabbits are also on display at the fair.
Festival and Fairgoers delight in riding the Ferris wheel and playing carnival games, but rides and games are the only two types of entertainment you’ll find. Some feature limestone or wood carving, rodeos, live entertainment, tractor pulls, and antique tractor shows.
Fair and festivalgoers can watch the crowning of the king, queen, and court. The talent competition showcases the best singers, jugglers, and comedians in the county. Grandstand and bandstand entertainment offer an array of derbies, races, and concerts. And everyone loves a parade.
