Woman complains of chest pain following a four-vehicle accident

BEDFORD – Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a four-vehicle accident at the intersection of Stars Boulevard and Boyd Lane on Friday, June 16 at 6:03 p.m. after a driver failed to yield the right of way

According to police, 39-year-old Erin Mitchell, of Bedford,  told police she was traveling east on Boyd Lane in a Kia Sorento and was stopped at the stop sign texting on her phone. She told police she had her hazard lights on to alert traffic. Once she finished texting she looked to the left and right and entered the intersection.

At the same time 24-year-old Haley Holland, of Bedford, told police she was traveling north in her Dodge Ram 1500 on Stars Boulevard and was approaching the intersection when Mitchell pulled into her pathway and she struck the Kia Sorento.

Police say 17-year-old Wen Willis, of Whiteland, MI, who was also traveling west on Boyd Lane in a Dodge Dart and stopped at the stop sign told police he saw Mitchell’s car on the opposite side of the roadway with the hazard lights on and he said he then watch her pull into the pathway of Holland’s truck.

Willis had his two juvenile sisters in his vehicle.

Dee McCloskey, 62, of Charlestown, was driving a Toyota Corolla Matrix and was also slowing to stop in traffic. Her car was behind Willis’ car. She told police that Mitchell’s car pulled into the path of the pickup truck.

After the impact of the two vehicles. Mitchell’s car struck the Dodge Dart driven by Willis. The Dodge Dart was then pushed into McCloskey’s car.

All four vehicles were damaged and three had to be towed from the scene. McCloskey was able to drive her vehicle from the scene. Damages were estimated between $25,001 and $50,000.

Holland, Willis and his sisters, and McCloskey reported no injuries.

Mitchell complained of chest pain.
