BEDFORD – The 10th Annual Ugly Duck Derby & Free Community Swim Day also hosted by the United Way of South Central Indiana was Saturday, June 10 at the John Lowery Municipal Pool.
The event raised more than $33,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County.
Andrea Rope, who works at Dr. Sowders & Dr. Rope Practice of Optometry, had the winning duck in the Blue Duck Race and won $2,500. She decided to donate her winnings back to the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County.
“We are so grateful for her kind heart in donating the prize back to the club,” said officials. “This gift brings our total amount raised from this year’s Ugly Duck Derby to $35,000!”
