HELTONVILLE – On Sunday, June 18th, around 3 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputies Kenton Carter and Kinsley Duncan responded to a report of a battery at Transitions in the 500 block of Diamond Road in Heltonville.
When police arrived they found an employee of the facility had been struck in the head and was bleeding.
Officers arrested 22-year-old Jackie Camden, of Bloomington, on charges of battery causing bodily injury and criminal mischief.
When police arrived they were met by an employee who had suffered a bloody cut to his left ear. The male requested to file charges.
The employee told police Camden was acting obnoxious and tearing up a patio umbrella in the common area at the facility. Once inside, Camden was asked to return to his room to calm down and that is when he struck the employee in the head.
Camden told police the employee had “put his hands on me first” and shoved him. Camden said he swung at the employee in retaliation. He told police he was being held at Transitions against his will.
But others at the facility confirmed the employee’s statement.
Camden was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
