MITCHELL – On Monday, June 19th, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputies Bailey Duprey, Harrison Fleetwood, and Thomas Porter responded to the 1800 block of Rabbitsville Road after a report of a domestic fight.
When police arrived, they learned that 36-year-old Kasie Johnson, of Mitchell, had escalated a verbal argument into a physical altercation when she struck a male in the face with her fist. Police say she had bloody knuckles. Johnson told police she had punched a wall after the male had left the house earlier that night.
The male had redness and swelling on his face.
Johnson stated that she was a corrections officer in Monroe County and that she was afraid of the male.
Johnson also allegedly retrieved a handgun and pointed it at the male. Johnson admitted she had grabbed a loaded Ruger handgun during the argument.
Johnson was arrested. She was medically cleared by the IU LifeLine ambulance crew for injuries she suffered to her hand and knuckles. She then became violent with officers and punched one of them.
Johnson was arrested for domestic battery, pointing a loaded firearm, and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington also assisted in this investigation and arrest.
