MITCHELL – A Mitchell and Marion Township Volunteer Fire Departments battle a house fire in the 500 block of Merdian Road Monday.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 5:03 p.m. Firefighters arrived within minutes and were able to get the fire knocked down quickly but the home suffered significant damage.
No one was home when the fire started. The home which is being rented is owned by Chris Webb.
Firefighters believe an air conditioner on the south side of the home tripped a breaker igniting the fire.
Firefighters remained at the scene until 6:45 p.m.
Also responding were Mitchell Police Department, an IU LifeLine ambulance, and Duke Energy.
