PAOLI – The Orange County Historical Society will play host to the upcoming “Living History Day at the Farmhouse” this coming Saturday, July 8.
The event will be held at the historic Thomas Elwood Lindley House in Paoli and will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Planned activities include a Civil War Muster on the front lawn of the old farmhouse, costumed historic reenactors, guided house tours, heritage-related activities, and more.
The Thomas Elwood Lindley House circa 1852, was built on land granted in 1812 to Jonathan Lindley (1756-1828) when he left North Carolina to settle in Orange County. Jonathan was the grandfather of Thomas Elwood Lindley (1825-1900). The house is restored in part to reflect the period of the mid-1850s to the 1860s when it was used as a farm home. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
The event is free; however, donations will be accepted to help with the preservation of the historic home site. The historic Lindley house is located at 1563 W. Willow Creek Rd., Paoli.
