LAWRENCE CO. – Tuesday, June 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the Bedford Courthouse, the county council met to decide on proposals and requests, as well as other county matters.
Among the issues discussed and approved, were the following:
- A request from Dustin Gabhart and Amanda Robbins for half of an intern’s salary to be covered by the country, roughly amounting to $1,500.
- ARP funds for Broadband, amounting to $1,000,00.
- A request of funding to support the Volunteer Fire Dept. and Lawrence County Fairgrounds amounting to $950,000.
- ARP fund professional fees amounting to $215,516.
- Courthouse Building Repair for heating and air conditioning amounting to $75,000.
- Funds to renovate and repair the Plaza amounting to $25,000.
- Replacement of janitorial courthouse position vacancy.
- A request from Nedra Brock-Fleetwood for a transfer amounting to $394.
- Another request for event/supplies amounting to $20 dollars.
- Budget of Grant approved.
- Immunization grant budget (for youths whose families cannot afford it) amounting to $112,456.
- Cf-1: Broadband Fiber-optic wires serving Guthrie, Pleasant Run, and Shawswick.
- Sherriff Greg Day requested a transfer of $24,535.
- Chief Public Defender Tim Sledd requested a separate fund be made for the CHINS (Child in Need of Services) and budget.
- Court Orders automatically approved.
Under discussion at the same meeting was Salary Ordinance Verbiage relating to those who leave positions of work at local government positions, and then return. The council set the matter to be decided at a future meeting.
Sherriff Greg Day gave a report on the increase of inmates housed currently in the prison. The total count racks up at 141 total inmates.
The council moved to adjourn at roughly 8 p.m. that evening.
