Dispatchers answered hundreds of storm-related calls

BEDFORD – Emergency Management Deputy Director Scott Smith reported to the Commissioners Tuesday morning, that there were five dispatchers in Central dispatch to handle all the weather-related calls.

“On Friday, those dispatchers handled more than 100 calls,” Smith added. “Most were about trees and powerlines down.”

There were only two reports of property damage.

“One was a mobile home on State Road 158,” added Smith. “The home had major damage but was just being used for storage. No one was living in the home. The other was on Valley Mission Road. A home had minor damage to the trim and a garage door.”

Smith said residents with damage should report it to the Lawrence County Assessor’s Office.
