ORLEANS – Orleans Kiwanis Club members and guests gathered Thursday, June 29th at the Orleans United Methodist Church for their regular June meeting.
Following a delicious meal served by the ladies of the church Tonya Sloane with the IU Health Tobacco Prevention presented an informative program on efforts to educate and inform children and youth on the danger of tobacco products.
Sandy Blanton was welcomed as a newest Club Member.
Orders are still being accepted for the Club’s 100th Anniversary shirt. Two designs are available one a polo type and the other a T-shirt. Please contact Leslie Padgett and/or Gretchen Nelson as soon as possible to place an order.
The Kiwanis Club of Orleans has served the needs of the children and youth since 1923 and is celebrating its 100th Anniversary. A special celebratory dinner is set for July 19th at 6 p.m. at Unity Hall. Area clubs from across the Hoosier Division and dignitaries are expected to be in attendance.
The occasion will also serve as the Hoosier Division’s Official Visit with Kiwanis Governor Brue Andrews.
All Club members and/or guests are welcome and urged to attend. Please RSVP by no later than July 14th.
Orleans Town officials have proclaimed July 19th officially as “Kiwanis Club of Orleans Day.”
Club members have been challenged to donate 100 Books to the Orleans Little Free Library as part of the Club’s 100th Anniversary Celebration.
Wanted: Any type of Orleans Kiwanis Club Memorabilia for a special historic 100th Anniversary display to be included for the July 19th Celebration. Please contact Club Secretary Robert Henderson if you have items for the historic display.
