Indiana #1 in drug and alcohol rehabilitation searches

INDIANA – New research has shown which states seek drug and alcohol rehabilitation the most, which revealed some worrisome trends.

The study by addiction treatment resource Addiction Treatment Magazine analyzed Google data for common terms associated with rehabilitation and rehabilitation facilities to determine the states seeking drug and alcohol rehabilitation the most.

Taking the top spot as the state seeking drug and alcohol rehabilitation the most in Indiana. Far clear of second place, the people of Indiana averaged 477 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. “Rehab for alcohol” proved to be the most popular search term, averaging 3,266 monthly searches.

Second place belongs to New Hampshire, averaging 362 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. The most searched term within New Hamshire was “AA meetings near me,” averaging 1,125 monthly searches before adjusting for population.

Vermont ranks third on the list, averaging 303 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. Once again, “AA meetings near me” proves to be the most searched term relating to drug and alcohol rehabilitation, with an average of 481 monthly searches before adjusting for population.

In fourth place is Rhode Island. The people of Little Rhody average 268 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. Alcohol rehabilitation proved to be the most popular topic, with over two-thirds of rehab-related searches relating to alcohol alone.

The remainder of the top ten features Delaware in fifth place, with 260 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. Extremely close behind in sixth place is Massachusetts, with 259 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people.

Seventh on the list is Oregon, with 258 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. In Eighth place is Nevada, with 251 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people.

A spokesperson for Addiction Treatment Magazine commented on the findings, saying:

“It is evident that there is an extraordinary level of interest and information-seeking behavior related to drug and alcohol rehabilitation within these states. The study highlights the significance of rehabilitation as a topic of concern and the need for accessible resources and support for individuals in these communities.”

“These findings provide valuable insights to better understand and address the specific needs of states in terms of rehabilitation services.

Methodology:

Using a combination of different phrases and terms, monthly Google keyword search volumes averaged over the past 12 months were found for each state in the US. Search volumes were then aggregated by state, and the states were ranked by their total search volume for rehab-related search terms. Total search volumes were then adjusted to the population by multiplying by 100,000 people and dividing by the state population.
