LAWRENCE COUNTY – The North Lawrence Community School Board held a meeting yesterday, July 5, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. in the administration office, during which they approved an assortment of new hires for teaching positions this fall.
With the fall semester beginning in just under a month from now, the schools in the area are hard at work making sure they have their teaching gaps filled by the time August 3 rolls around.
Among the new hires are Aspen Cottew and Curtis Swedran, both Bedford Middle School teachers, Tyler Kalber, a carpentry and electrical instructor, Austin Malone, the Oolitic building Principal, Courtney Sledd, a Needmore instructional coach, Loren Bailey, a 5th-grade teacher at Shawswick, and Susan Suits, resource teacher at Bedford North Lawrence.
Additionally, Mallori Beyers Eckerle transferred from Instructional Aide to Teacher at Shawswick.
Bedford North Lawrence on its own hired 11 new extra-curricular coaches, including:
- Derrick Barker – Head Football Coach
- Nick Boyd – Head Boys Cross Country Coach
- Ryan Otis – Head Boys Soccer Coach
- Bret Roberts – Head Girls Soccer Coach
- Mike Branam – Head Unified Flag Football Coach
- Chris Kurtz – Head Boys Tennis Coach
- Kori Johnston – Head Girls Golf Coach
- Jack Spreen – Assistant Football Coach
- Jeff Allen – Head Girls Basketball Coach
- Adam Young – Head Boys and Girls Swim Coach
- Chris Branam – Head Wrestling Coach
