PAOLI – Residents of Grace Haven Restoration House, a volunteer-driven, Christian-based halfway house for those looking to make a new start after being released from incarceration and for those looking to be set free from addictions, will now have a reliable source of transportation in the way of a new 15 passenger van and new exercise equipment, thanks to a generous donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “Serving others, especially those who need it the most, is a priority for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” said President Scott. “It’s an important way to show our devotion to Jesus Christ and love for others.” Members of the Church are encouraged to volunteer their time serving their local community, and when appropriate are able to request donations to support local
needs and causes. To learn more about The Church’s worldwide welfare and humanitarian efforts, please visit Caring.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Cindy and Robert Longest, Pastors for Grace Haven, were overwhelmed when they learned about the potential and then the reality of the donation, “We are so grateful for the Church’s generous gift and support of Grace Haven’s mission. Teaching the women to become self-reliant is critical to the recovery program and having a reliable form of transportation and a better way for the residents to care for their physical bodies is so wonderful.”
The congregation is part of a larger group of nearly 3000 members of the Church from 10 congregations across Southern Indiana who look for opportunities to serve their communities and share the love and light of Jesus Christ.
