Bedford City Redevelopment Commission discuss paying off Stonegate Arts and Education Center

BEDFORD – The Stonegate Arts and Education Center has come under discussion by the Bedford City Redevelopment Commission.

In 2019, Stonegate moved to Bedford Square from its former location at the Indiana Limestone Co. headquarters location at 405 I Street. They moved into a newly constructed building that sits just across from the Courthouse on the Square. Since then, they have been working to pay off the new building.

As of yesterday’s status, brought under scrutiny by the board’s approval of payment for the same cause, the outstanding balance sits at roughly 2 million.

Mayor Sam Craig brought up the possibility of accelerating the process; the hope being a plan to pay off the Stonegate later this year.

At the Board’s meeting next month, representatives from the Baker Tilly, an accounting firm based in Indianapolis, will present financial updates to inform the possibility of a faster pay-off.
