LAWRENCE COUNTY – A trip through the 4-H Lawrence County Fair cow barn will have you meeting an array of people busy with caring for their animals and enjoying the summer fun.
Shannon Graves spent a good while with Casen Spires, 12, showing him the ropes about showing cattle for the fair. She guided him through the steps involved in proper form, with a helpful and bright demeanor. Their small audience watched from the side as tips were given and practiced.
Judy Cummins, of Fort Wayne, helped her grand-daughter Emma Spires wash the calf she showed this year, “Wyatt”, an adorable little guy who didn’t seem to be having as good a time as they were.
“She’s really teaching me a lot of new things,” said Judy of Emma, who was doing most of the task herself. Both seemed to be enjoying the time together, and the fun of the fair.
