BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners approved increasing the price to get a copy of a death certificate from the Lawrence County Health Department, Tuesday morning
Paula Edwards, registrar at Lawrence County Health Department, requested the increase saying the department was losing money.
The current cost for a death certificate is $9.75 and has not increased since 2018. The cost now will be $15.
“That amount is more in line with surrounding counties,” added Edwards. “Jackson County charges $18, Monroe County charges $16 and Washington County charges $15.”
