INDIANA – Did you know that Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority has funding for residential wheelchair/accessibility ramps? If you are part of an individual household in need of a wheelchair/accessibility ramp, please encourage your local agencies to apply for this funding.
Ramp Up is IHCDA’s program to provide grants to non-profit organizations to install exterior ramps in homes occupied by people in need of improving accessibility in their homes. Ramps increase safety, reduce the risk of falling, and maintains a person’s independence by allowing them to age in place in their home.
We provide technical assistance for the applications, so it’s a very collaborative application process. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funding is exhausted. Ramp Up is funded with non-federal Development Fund dollars, so there’s less red tape once funding is awarded. If your organization is interested in applying, please review the policy on the website, and email Ramp Up Coordinator Holly Lester at hlester@ihcda.in.gov.
The organization’s most common partner organizations include local Habitat for Humanity chapters and Area Agencies on Aging, but we are open to all kinds of non-profit organizations and local government agencies. Ideal applicants will have an established organizational mission to serve the housing needs of persons with disabilities and/or to rehabilitate homes for low-income homeowners.
