GREENE CO. – Roger Axe, Director of Greene County Emergency Management is asking Greene County churches and fire stations to open their doors to help those with no air conditioning to stay cool during this heat wave.
“The heat wave we will experience this week will be extremely dangerous for people without proper cooling or air conditioning who are at risk – the elderly, the very young, those with medical conditions,” said Roger Axe, Director, of Greene County Emergency Management Agency.
“The most recent forecast points to the hottest days Wednesday through Saturday. To help these people we are asking our churches and fire stations to open cooling centers this week at least Wednesday through Saturday.
Those wishing to participate are requested to call Greene County Emergency Management Agency at 812-384-4012 or email greene-jeans@sbcglobal.net.
Once a list is compiled of available cooling centers that list will be posted on the Greene County Emergency Management Facebook page and local media will be contacted,” added Axe.
