BEDFORD – The budget for public health emergency preparedness, totaling $25,000, covers various fees, and costs for supplies. The budget was approved last night at the monthly Lawrence County Council meeting.
Part of the budget is used to keep up the emergency trailer that houses a nurses station, emergency supplies, tents, and more, in case of natural disasters or events like COVID-19.
Emergency preparedness also takes care of PODs, or points of dispensing, often set up in churches, schools, or other like locations to facilitate emergency housing and care in such emergency cases.
Those costs were:
- Personal services: $15,000
- Grant Financial manager
- PHC Alternative
- PHN and PHC
- Supplies: $5,400
- Emergency and office supplies
- Other services and charges: $4,600
- Emergency trailer maintenance, generator maintenance, and Verizon costs.
- Travel and mileage expenses
