BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Monday afternoon after Bedford Police officers were alerted to a fight in the 100 block of 16th Street.
When police arrived at 3:21 p.m. they found four people, three male and a female, in the backyard of the home.
David Eicle, 63, told police he was at the property to check on it for a friend who was currently incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail. When he arrived he found three people there and asked two of them to leave. There was an altercation between two of the men Eicle found on the property.
As Eicle was approaching his vehicle to leave one of those males approached him and struck him several times. The woman then approached him and pushed him to the ground scratching his leg when he fell into the rose bush.
One of the men told police he was inside the house when Eicle arrived on the property and attacked the female. He told police he pulled Eicle off the woman. He said Eicle grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and punched him in the face three times. They separated and went outside, where Eicle again went after the female. The male again stepped between Eicle and the female and they all fell to the ground.
While on the ground Eicle allegedly choked the male and continued to punch him.
The female confirmed the male’s story and had visible injuries to her neck and arms. The third male also confirmed the allegations saying Eicle was “freaking out”.
The male and female signed a battery affidavit.
Police arrested Eicle on charges of battery and strangulation.
