BEDFORD – The Claude Akins Golf Classic returns on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend! September 2 and 3, the event will be held at the Otis Park Golf Course just off Tunnelton Road in Bedford.
The six-person scramble offers more than $30,000 in prizes.
Play will begin at 7:15 a.m. with afternoon rounds starting at 1:15 p.m. on both days. Four rounds will be played beginning Saturday, September 2nd, and ending Sunday, September 3rd. Two rounds will be played each day at 7:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.
There will be plenty of food, drinks, and a great time with over $30,000 in prizes! Registration is $70 per person.

The Claude Akins Memorial Golf Classic tournament is held annually in memory of Claude Akins in Bedford. The funds received from the ceremony are provided as the Bedford Recreation Foundation Scholarship and also the Akins Scholarship to the graduate students of Bedford North High School. The funds are also utilized for various projects that include recreation and development.
Claude Akins was an American actor raised in Bedford Indiana. He was born on May 25, 1926, and died from cancer at the age of 67 on January 27, 1994. His parents were Ernest Marion Akins and Anna Maude Akins. His father was a stonecutter, then a policeman by profession, and his mother was a housewife.
He spent his time as an actor on television, stage, and in the film industry. Akins is primarily recognized for his role in the TV series titled B. J. and the Bear as Sheriff Lobo, and later in a spin-off series entitled The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo. He is also remembered for his role in the TV series Movin’ On by NBC.
