BEDFORD – The Bedford Plan Commission conducted a public meeting Friday morning on the deteriorating condition of a home at 1330 U Street.
The city is wanting to have the home torn down due to safety issues.
The home is owned by Matthew Survance. He has been attempting to sell the home, but that sale fell through due to needing a contract for the purchase and the purchaser currently being out of town.
“I have a buyer, but ran into some hiccups during closing because we didn’t have a contract,” added Survance.
Hearing Officer Brad Bough gave Survance until August 18th to have sale contract or purchase agreement in place.
If no agreement is in place by the deadline, the city will take possession of the home on August 25th, demolish the home, and place a lien on the property.
City officials are also concerned because there was a recent break-in to the property.
