BLOOMINGTON – A multi-use path is being constructed along the north side of 17th Street in Bloomington and accessible sidewalk curb ramps are being installed.
The construction of the project has been divided into two phases. The east phase from Walnut Street to Dunn Street was completed in 2023. The west phase from Monroe Street to Walnut Street is currently under construction and anticipated to be completed in November of 2023.
The street is being resurfaced and the existing traffic signal at the intersection of 17th Street at Madison Street and Kinser Pike has been replaced.
The intersection of 17th and Kinser Pike has been reopened to traffic.
The project is continuing to the west with a closure to eastbound traffic on 17th Street from Monroe Street to Maple Street.
The project is supported by federal funding as prioritized through the Bloomington Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization.
The engineering design consultant for the project is Lochmueller Group.
East 3rd Street
East 3rd Street between Eagleson and Overhill will have pavement markings completed by August 4. Raised pavement markings along the lane lines and any sign work should be completed during the week of August 7. There may be lane restrictions due to work.
Country Club Drive
West Country Club Drive west of Walnut Street to the bridge, will have pavement markings completed by Friday, August 4.

Resurfacing Projects
During the week of August 7, weather permitting, the Department of Public Works Street Division crews will begin milling and resurfacing on South Franklin Road from West 3rd Street to End of City Maintenance.
The Division will prep streets prior to resurfacing and will have restrictions during work hours 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Signage will be posted.
