WOLF CREEK – Indiana Conservation Officers have released the identity of the two individuals swept away by floodwaters while staying in a cabin along Wolf Creek on July 28.
The body of Hardy Harris Jr., 49, was recovered from the water on the afternoon of July 29.
The second individual, Virginia Marie Pennington, 53 is still missing.
Search efforts continue and have extended beyond the initial search area to include the area where Wolf Creek meets the Whitewater River.
Indiana Conservation Officers and multiple other agencies began their search on July 29th after Harris Jr. and Pennington were swept away by floodwaters along Wolf Creek in Franklin County.
The two people who were staying in a cabin near the creek were missing, and the cabin had been washed away.
After searching the area, responders found one Harris Jr. downstream of the cabin’s original location at 1:30 p.m., and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Search efforts continued through the evening but were later suspended due to dangerous conditions.
